MLhased stochastic matching [2] of model-space transformation was used as the benchmark for comparisons. The experiments were designed such that phonemes defined in the TIMIT database were recognised. Each phoneme was modelled with a hidden Markov model with at most three states, and each state consisted of three mixture Gaussian densities. The number of states in each HMM was determined by the t i e duration distribution of its phoneme provided in the TIMIT database.

E ectiveness of Loss Labeling in Improving TCP Performance in Wired/Wireless Networks

The current congestion-oriented design of TCP hinders its ability to perform well in hybrid wireless/wired networks. We propose a new improvement on TCP NewReno (NewReno-FF) using a new loss labeling technique to discriminate wireless from congestion losses. The proposed technique is based on the estimation of average and variance of the round trip time using a lter called Flip Flop lter that i...

Improving Bandwidth-power Efficiency of Homogeneous Wireless Networks Using On-meet Threshold Strategy (RESEARCH NOTE)

Over two decades, a problem of location dependent has been focused for improving the communication Bandwidth-Power Efficiency of homogeneous networks. The efficiencies of communication links are weakened by the Hidden Terminal Problem.  Thus we propose a Fine – Tune Strategy for analyzing the On-Off communication region. We were observed that the proposed technique had been able to track and mo...

Baseline single-flow TCP results for TEACUP v0.4.5 testbed

Abstract—This technical report summarises a basic set of single-flow TCP experiments designed to confirm correct operation of our TEACUP testbed under teacup-v0.4.5 using pfifo (tail-drop) queue management at the bottleneck router. We document plausibly correct behaviour of FreeBSD’s NewReno, Cubic and CDG, Linux’s NewReno and CUBIC and Windows 7’s default TCP. We do not attempt to make any mea...

TCP Start up Performance in Large Bandwidth Delay Networks

Next generation networks with large bandwidth and long delay pose a major challenge to TCP performance, especially during the startup period. In this paper we evaluate the performance of TCP Reno/Newreno, Vegas and Hoe’s modification in large bandwidth delay networks. We propose a modified Slow-start mechanism, called Adaptive Start (AStart), to improve the startup performance in such networks....
